The Work Poetry Writing Workshop: Saturday Afternoon Edition

Join us on Saturday, March 9 for The Work poetry workshop facilitated by Christopher Luna.

Saturday, March 9

Birdhouse Books
1001 Main St Basement
Vancouver, WA 98660

The Saturday edition of The Work takes place at Birdhouse Books, the cozy, friendly used bookstore in Vancouver’s Arts District co-owned by Sarah Summerhill and Lucas Gubala. Sarah and Lucas have shown their love and support for local authors by dedicating an entire section of the store to Northwest writers and hosting poetry readings for every First Friday Art Walk.

The cost for this workshop will be a $25 suggested donation. No one will be turned away due to lack of funds.

The Work takes place at Birdhouse Books from 2:00 – 5:00 pm on the second Saturday of the month.

The Work is a drop-in poetry writing workshop for beginners as well as more experienced writers. Poetry encourages empathy and compassion, and sparks the shifts in consciousness which lead to healing, personal growth, and an interest in fighting for progressive social change.

We will read and discuss poetry, and write several new poems together. Each workshop will feature at least three timed writing exercises.

Upcoming Saturday afternoon workshops will take place on April 13, May 11, June 8, July 13, September 14, October 12, November 9, and December 14. This workshop will not meet in August.

The Work also takes place from 9:00am – 12:00pm on the fourth Saturday of every month.

Upcoming Saturday morning workshops will take place on March 23, April 27, June 22, July 27, August 24, September 28, October 26, November 23. This workshop will not meet in May or December.

I am very grateful to Leah Jackson for providing me with a space to hold my poetry workshop for many years. We will continue to collaborate on projects and workshops including my in-person memoir writing group. Please stop by and continue to support Niche Wine Bar, Riverview Tower 900 Washington Street #130 Vancouver, Washington 98660.

I lead creative writing workshops and classes year-round. I am also accepting new coaching clients and manuscripts for editing. If you are looking for writing coaching, editing/ manuscript review, or information about poetry and memoir classes, send me an email via
