Food is incredibly important for a developing child or teen, and yet over 20,000 children in Clark County are considered food insecure (they do not know when or where their next meal is coming from).
Research shows that receiving free or reduced-price meals reduces food insecurity, obesity rates, and poor health in children.
Summer Meals is a federally funded, state-administered program that reimburses providers who serve free healthy meals to children & teens when school is not in session.
The goal of the program is to give all children 18 and under access to nutritious meals in low-income areas while they do not have access to free/reduced school meals.

Join Mayor Anne McEnerny-Ogle, project leaders, and local business owners to celebrate the reopening and transformation of Main Street. The event will feature remarks from community leaders, light refreshments, a performance by Metropolitan Performing Arts, and live music from Liz Joy and Midnight Theory. Guests are invited to explore the newly improved Main Street corridor and experience the safer, more accessible, and more connected downtown space. The event is presented in partnership with the City of Vancouver and Vancouver’s Downtown Association. The Main Street Promise project represents 30 years of planning and community vision. The project included major upgrades to aging infrastructure, including water, wastewater, and stormwater utilities, some of which had not been updated in nearly 100 years. Main Street and sections of surrounding side streets were repaved, with new traffic signals and an e-bike charging station also added. Safety improvements include speed bumps, enhanced intersections and crosswalks, and a transition to parallel parking. Get ready for a spine-tingling race experience at the Running Scared 5K & 13K—where thrills, chills, and fast times collide! The Historic Trust invites you to explore your local history! The Secret Spaces: Post Hospital Tour will give participants a chance to step back in time and imagine the rooms of this historic building in action. With access to explore spaces on all four floors, you’ll get an exclusive peek inside this structure that has been off-limits to the public for decades. Your experience begins across the street from the Post Hospital at the Red Cross Building with a brief 10 to 15 minute seated educational session by The Historic Trust’s Director of Historic Preservation, Holly Chamberlain, sharing historical and architectural background information about changes the building has seen over time, and about the spaces you’ll get to explore. The Battle Ground Boo Bash is a family-friendly Halloween celebration filled with games, treats and festive fun inside the Battle Ground Event Center and outside in Fairgrounds Park parking lot off of E Main St. Candy Carnival: Packed with fun-filled games and activities where kids can play to win candy and prizes. Join us for Pumpkin Lane<, and one of our favorite times of the year - fall on the farm. Take a hayride down Pumpkin Lane where you'll see dozens of "pumpkin people" scenes. While you're here you can pick out the perfect pumpkin, enjoy our many photo-ops, and explore the historic farm grounds including farm animals and several kids activities. We will have coffee and food vendors on site. In addition, on Friday and Saturday evenings you can return on the same day after 6 pm to experience the Nighttime corn maze!
