The event will feature remarks from community leaders, light refreshments, a performance by Metropolitan Performing Arts, and live music from Liz Joy and Midnight Theory. Guests are invited to explore the newly improved Main Street corridor and experience the safer, more accessible, and more connected downtown space. The event is presented in partnership with the City of Vancouver and Vancouver’s Downtown Association. The Main Street Promise project represents 30 years of planning and community vision. The project included major upgrades to aging infrastructure, including water, wastewater, and stormwater utilities, some of which had not been updated in nearly 100 years. Main Street and sections of surrounding side streets were repaved, with new traffic signals and an e-bike charging station also added. Safety improvements include speed bumps, enhanced intersections and crosswalks, and a transition to parallel parking. The Historic Trust invites you to explore your local history! The Secret Spaces: Post Hospital Tour will give participants a chance to step back in time and imagine the rooms of this historic building in action. With access to explore spaces on all four floors, you’ll get an exclusive peek inside this structure that has been off-limits to the public for decades. Leave Your Troubles at The Door is a completely improvised stand-up comedy showcase where the audience's anonymously submitted problems help create the topics of jokes that comedians riff on stage. Audience members write their problems / troubles down on pieces of paper, put them in a box before the show and then many of the best comedians from the Pacific Northwest and beyond take on those issues using their on-the-spot jokes. You can STAY anonymous, too. It's a rare comedy show where instead of the comedians joking about their problems, they joke about yours! The Battle Ground Boo Bash is a family-friendly Halloween celebration filled with games, treats and festive fun inside the Battle Ground Event Center and outside in Fairgrounds Park parking lot off of E Main St. Candy Carnival: Packed with fun-filled games and activities where kids can play to win candy and prizes. Trunk-or-Treat: Community members and organizations transform their vehicle's trunk with creative, spooky and silly displays while handing out candy and goodies. FREE to attend Parking Parking for the event is located in the Fairground Park north parking lot and the Little League Fields parking lot. Both are located off of NE Fairground Ave. Get Involved Trunk-or-Treat Hosts: Interested in becoming an event partner and hosting a parking lot spot? Complete an online application to secure your space. The event targets more preschool and elementary age kids. Your parking lot space can include a vehicle with candy in the truck but it doesn't have to. Hosts can set their parking lot space up however they would like. Join us for our 3rd annual Samhain Celebration, a favorite event of the season! We will gather together in ritual and sacred space to honor our beloved dead, and those who have passed while we commemorate this night, when the veil is at its thinnest, as we embrace the dead and open the door to welcome them. Please bring a picture or two of people who have passed before that are beloved to you, particularly any who have passed in the last turn of the wheel. Things to remember: Grist Mill Road is one way for the day, with traffic only allowed to go northbound. The line is only to get cider (limit 2 half gallons per adult). If you wish to go into the mill to see the Squeezin and to give a hand there is no need for you to wait in line. While you're here you can pick out the perfect pumpkin, enjoy our many photo-ops, and explore the historic farm grounds including farm animals and several kids activities. We will have coffee and food vendors on site.
