Volunteer at Evergreen Habitat for Humanity

Description

Ways To Get Involved

Volunteers are at the heart of what we do. Habitat volunteers have the unique opportunity to help shape the community in which they live and affect real change in the lives of our families. No matter what your skill level, we can match you with opportunities to develop your skills and put your talents into action.

New Construction
Volunteering on the build site is a fun, hands-on opportunity to build homes alongside future Habitat homeowners. No experience is required! Volunteers complete tasks related to building a home from foundations and framing to flooring and finish work. (Minimum age: 16)

Note: We are currently in between construction projects and do not have volunteer opportunities at this time. We anticipate having construction-related volunteer opportunities available in early 2025.

Clark County Habitat Store
Help build a home without picking up a hammer! Our Habitat Store generates funding in support of Habitat’s mission, and they are run with the help of volunteers. Volunteers complete a variety of tasks including providing helpful customer service, pricing products, stocking shelves, creating DIY projects and displays, recycling metal, and organizing stock. (Minimum age: 14)

Women Build
Habitat’s Women Build program brings together women and their allies to raise funds to build homes and educate and empower women in construction, a largely male dominated space.

Opportunities to get involved in Habitat’s Women Build program include serving on the Women Build Committee, supporting and/or planning events, raising funds, and working and learning on our Habitat home construction sites through hands-on Women Build specific volunteer days.

See full Women Build web page here.

Faith Build
Evergreen Habitat’s Faith Build program brings local faith-based organizations and individuals from varying backgrounds and beliefs together to help fund and build affordable homes for families in Clark County.

Opportunities to get involved include serving on our Faith Relations committee, supporting fundraising efforts to build homes, building and fostering relationships with faith communities’ leadership and members, event support and planning, and working on our Habitat home construction sites through hands-on volunteer days.

See full Faith Build web page here.

Construction Lunch Provider
You can be an important part of a build day by providing lunch for the construction volunteers. This is always a welcome service!

Office Support
Offer behind-the-scenes assistance with everything from fundraising and event planning to volunteer coordination, data entry, advocacy, and more. No hardhat required!

Youth Involvement
While most of our in-person volunteer opportunities have a minimum age requirement of 14-16, we offer a list of ways youth can get involved from home here. We are always looking for new and creative ways to keep future generations engaged and active in affordable housing in our community. Ideas for other options to add to this list are always welcome.

Committees
Committees are a great way to take your volunteer experience to the next level. They’re also a great opportunity to engage with Habitat’s work behind the scenes. Below is the list of current Evergreen Habitat for Humanity committees:

  • Homeowner Services
  • Women Build
  • Faith Relations
  • Finance
  • Development
  • Event Planning

Most committees meet on a monthly basis. Development meets quarterly.

Group Opportunities

Group Build on Construction Site
Group Build partners are businesses and civic organizations that coordinate a day of team and home building with Evergreen Habitat for Humanity. Investing in Habitat for Humanity through volunteer service and a financial contribution doubles your group’s impact. The dream of homeownership is possible for families in Clark County through Habitat for Humanity and its community of supporters. Become a committed Group Build partner and we will work together to provide permanent housing solutions for deserving local families.

By the end of a Group Build day, colleagues, families, friends, and coworkers will have learned new skills and worked hard together impacting the community and themselves in a truly unique way.

Group Day at the Habitat Store
Volunteering with your group in the Clark County Habitat Store is a great way to support Habitat’s mission without swinging a hammer! Spend a day or half day working in the Habitat Store. Tasks range from pricing product, creating displays, shelving products, painting and handy projects, and more.
