Plas Newydd Farm Arts Initiative
A collabortive space for making art in the outdoors
Description
The Plas Newydd Farm Arts Initiative is a place-based, collaborative endeavor based at Plas Newydd Farm in Ridgefield, Washington. The Arts Initiative was launched in 2023 to help record coming changes on the landscape here, and to give local artists and community members the opportunity to engage with one the forests, wetlands and pastures on the farm.
Located at the confluence of the Lewis and Columbia rivers, Plas Newydd Farm sits at the intersection of agriculture, development, and conservation, and is one of the largest intact pieces of working agricultural land in Clark County. The family is committed to keeping this land in use as an agricultural space, as well as a site for significant habitat and wetland restoration, through the Wapato Valley Conversation and Mitigation Bank.
Through a combination of workshops, short-term artists residencies and exhibitions, the PN Farm Arts Initiative delves into the stories of this place. Together we create a space where the local arts community and the general public can come together for creation, conversation and exploration.
